Onteria is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor, who is also a doctoral student in counselor education and supervision. His life philosophy is that while we all suffer, we need not suffer alone. As a mental health professional, it is his aim to assure his clients that he is with them throughout their journey towards reaching their therapeutic goals. Onteria has experience working with a widely diverse group of clients including race, gender, sexuality, economic status, ableism, and faith. He is a therapist with a passion for supporting men through some of life’s most challenging seasons. He specializes in working with fathers, men navigating divorce or separation, and those facing depression, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection from themselves and others. Many of the men he works with feel pressure to stay strong, provide, and hold everything together — often at the cost of their own emotional well-being. His role is to offer a space where you can exhale, reflect, and rebuild with clarity and purpose.

While pursuing his master degree in counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, Onteria served as a practicum and intern student at a high school and elementary school. This would begin his work with underserved populations and youth experiencing a myriad of behavioral and academic challenges. Upon graduating in 2020, Onteria began working with teenage males who had been incarcerated due to substance and drug use and other criminal behaviors. In this time, Onteria developed a passion for leading group counseling sessions.

Onteria also has nearly four years of experience working virtually with a community mental health agency providing therapy for individuals with ADHD, mood and personality disorders and marital and family problems. Currently, Onteria is a second year doctoral student at the University of Georgia’s counseling education and supervision program. Onteria aspires to use his degree to train and supervise future clinicians while also continuing to provide mental health services for individuals and families.

As an avid wrestling fan, Onteria believes that we all have battles in life that we must endure and overcome but no battle is completely conquered alone. Onteria views his therapeutic role comparable to a tag team in wrestling. The best teams are forged by having a common goal and a collaborative relationship built on respect, grace and unconditional positive regard.

Ideals

Onteria's approach blends evidence-based therapeutic practices with faith-based counseling for clients who desire spiritual integration in their healing journey. He believes emotional health and spiritual growth can work hand-in-hand, and I honor each client’s values, beliefs, and personal story. Whether you are struggling with identity after a relationship change, trying to reconnect with your children, battling silent depression, or searching for deeper meaning, therapy can become a turning point — not just a place to talk, but a place to transform.

He offers a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where men can explore their inner world, strengthen emotional resilience, and move forward with renewed confidence and direction. You do not have to walk through this alone.
